Laguna Colorada in Bolivia | Earth Science | International Space Station

Laguna Colorada in Bolivia | Earth Science | International Space Station

Laguna Colorada (Red Lagoon) shows off its vibrant red-brown color as the International Space Station soared roughly 265 miles above Bolivia. Located in the Bolivian Andes Mountains, the salt lake gets its bright hues from algae that thrive in the water.

Bolivia is a landlocked country located in western-central South America. It is bordered by Brazil to the north and east, Paraguay to the southeast, Argentina to the south, Chile to the southwest, and Peru to the west.

The Andes are the longest continental mountain range in the world, forming a continuous highland along the western edge of South America.
